The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) officially opened today (November 5) in Shanghai and will run for six days. The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), a consistent participant since the event’s inception, is returning for its seventh consecutive year. This year, HKTB is showcasing Hong Kong’s dynamic appeal as an international metropolis, highlighting the city’s rich tourism offerings, key events, and its role in leading the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) tourism brand alongside other regional cities.

Mr. Dane Cheng, Executive Director of HKTB, emphasized the importance of the CIIE as a platform for Hong Kong to present its unique metropolitan image and tourism appeal to mainland and international markets. “The CIIE provides a crucial opportunity for HKTB to engage with a global audience and promote Hong Kong’s newest tourism experiences,” said Cheng. “This helps reinforce Hong Kong’s standing as a world-class tourism destination and a hub for GBA tourism, allowing us to leverage our global connectivity and attract more visitors for multi-destination travel.”

Under the theme “Hong Kong, Your Next Destination,” the HKTB pavilion offers an immersive experience, featuring a striking LED screen ring with 3D holographic projections that transport visitors through Hong Kong’s exciting events, cultural attractions, sports, and tourism experiences. The pavilion also includes elements representing Hong Kong’s iconic giant pandas, a beloved symbol of the city.

Visitors can participate in interactive activities, such as a travel itinerary quiz based on personality traits, which suggests customized travel plans in Hong Kong according to MBTI types. Additionally, the pavilion showcases a dedicated GBA tourism zone, emphasizing Hong Kong’s central role in linking the nine cities of the Greater Bay Area. This initiative aims to establish Hong Kong as a hub for multi-destination journeys within the GBA, bolstering the region’s status as a unified and competitive tourism destination.
