Edelweiss Announces New Direct Flights from Seattle to Zurich

Edelweiss, the Swiss leisure airline owned by Lufthansa, has unveiled plans to introduce new twice-weekly flights connecting Seattle’s SeaTac Airport with Zurich Airport. The flights are scheduled to commence on June 2, 2025, and will operate every Monday and Saturday. Departures from Seattle will be at 4:25 p.m., arriving in Zurich at 11:45 a.m. the following day. Return flights from Zurich to Seattle will also be available on Mondays and Saturdays.

This new route will complement Edelweiss’s existing services from Denver, Las Vegas, and Tampa Bay, Florida. The addition of the Seattle route aims to cater to west coast travelers seeking to explore Switzerland’s natural landscapes and vibrant cities during the summer months.

Travelers arriving in Zurich will have the option to either enjoy the city or connect to over 90 destinations served by Edelweiss. These include destinations across Europe such as Agadir, Morocco, Bari, Italy, as well as locations in Croatia, France, Greece, Ireland, Spain, and Turkey.

New Halifax-Zurich Flight

In addition to the Seattle route, Edelweiss will launch a new flight from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Zurich on July 3, 2025. At present, tickets for both the Seattle and Halifax routes are not yet available for purchase on the Edelweiss website.

CEO’s Statement

Edelweiss CEO Bernd Bauer highlighted the significance of the new service, stating, “This nonstop service offers a convenient link to Zurich, at the heart of Europe, while also bringing a significant number of Swiss travelers to Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.”

In-Flight Experience

Edelweiss, recognized as Switzerland’s leisure airline, offers various in-flight experiences including Business Class, Economy Max, and Economy Class. The Seattle-Zurich route will be operated using an Airbus A340-300, which accommodates 214 passengers, including 27 lie-flat business class seats. The economy cabin features an 11.1-inch high-definition touchscreen entertainment system with over 250 content options.

Owned by the Lufthansa Group, Edelweiss operates alongside Swiss International Airlines, both part of the German airline conglomerate. The airline has experienced substantial growth, serving 2.7 million passengers in 2023, a notable increase from 2.2 million passengers in 2022.
