Alaska Airlines has officially opened its latest airport lounge at Harvey Milk Terminal 1 of San Francisco International Airport (SFO). This 11,000-square-foot space represents a significant upgrade from its previous location in Terminal 2 and is designed to enhance the travel experience for its guests.

New Lounge Features

Located across from Gate B6, the lounge operates daily from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. It boasts a variety of amenities, including privacy booths and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the tarmac. The lounge aims to provide a premium and relaxing environment for travelers.

“Today’s unveiling of our elegantly designed Lounge at SFO represents the culmination of over two years of dedicated commitment to enhance the way we care for our guests,” said Sangita Woerner, Alaska’s senior vice president of marketing and guest experience, in a statement last week. “Our lounges redefine the premium travel experience, providing top-tier amenities and ample space to escape the hustle and bustle of the airport, whether you’re traveling with Alaska or our oneworld and global airline partners.”

Amenities and Offerings

Travelers can enjoy elevated drink and dining options similar to those found in the rest of the terminal, known for its foodie-inspired offerings. The lounge features hand-crafted espresso, local craft brews, and a selection of wines at the bar. Additionally, guests can savor local favorites like San Francisco sourdough bread and make use of a made-to-order pancake machine, a staple in all Alaska lounges.

Recent Renovations and Policies

The opening of the new lounge coincides with the completion of Terminal 1’s five-year renovation, which concluded last month. Over the past year, Alaska Airlines has also renovated lounges in other key West Coast hubs, including Portland and Seattle. The new SFO lounge is now the largest Alaska lounge in California.

Earlier this year, Alaska Airlines implemented significant changes to its airport lounge policies, including a $100 increase in the cost of annual memberships. Despite this, members can still bring immediate family or up to two adults as guests at no extra charge. Eligible first-class ticket holders and Oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members can also access Alaska lounges, provided they hold a same-day ticket.

Conclusion

The new Alaska Airlines lounge at SFO sets a new standard for premium travel experiences, offering travelers a comfortable and well-appointed space to relax before their flights. With its enhanced amenities and spacious design, the lounge is poised to become a favorite among Alaska Airlines passengers and their oneworld and global airline partners.
