Alaska Airlines has announced significant expansions in its routes to Mexico from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), aiming to enhance connectivity for travelers during the peak winter season.
Commencing November 20, the airline will introduce up to three weekly flights to La Paz, the capital of Mexico’s Baja California Sur. This will be complemented by daily nonstop service to Monterrey, Mexico’s second-largest metropolitan area, starting February 13, 2025.
These new routes will be operated year-round using Alaska’s E175 aircraft, featuring a 1-2 configuration in business class and 2-2 in economy. Tickets for these flights are now available for purchase through Alaska’s official website, following the commencement of sales on July 3.
Kristin Amrine, Alaska’s vice president of revenue management and network planning, emphasized the airline’s commitment to Mexico, stating, “We recently celebrated 35 years of service to Mexico and are proud to connect travelers with the rich culture and natural beauty of the country.”
Alaska Airlines stands out as the sole carrier offering nonstop routes from Los Angeles to La Paz and Monterrey, underscoring its strategic growth and dedication to expanding its footprint in the region. In addition to these new destinations, Alaska Airlines currently operates nonstop flights from LAX to various Mexican cities including Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, Guadalajara, and Puerto Vallarta, among others.
Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, highlighted the significance of these new routes, noting, “Through LAX, this expansion will provide increased access to new West Coast destinations, meeting the rising demand for both business and leisure travel.”
In addition to its Mexico routes, Alaska Airlines offers a robust network of connections from Los Angeles to several Central American destinations, including Belize and Guatemala, further solidifying its role as a key player in international air travel from the West Coast.
