Many travelers, like Lê Hoài An from Thủ Đức City, cite inconvenience and additional costs associated with night flights. Issues such as limited hotel check-in times, higher transportation expenses, and disruptions to children’s routines deter families from opting for flights departing between 1am to 3am, despite potential savings.
Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, and Bamboo Airways have all expanded their night flight offerings, with reductions of up to 30% on regular fares. However, travel agencies express reservations about integrating night flights into tour packages due to their impact on customer comfort and travel logistics.
According to industry experts, night flights are better suited for individual travelers rather than organized tours, where daytime schedules are critical for sightseeing and hotel arrangements. Domestic tours typically start early in the morning, making late-night arrivals impractical for most itineraries.
While airlines view night flights as a tool to stimulate domestic tourism amid high airfares, travel companies continue to focus on international destinations like Thailand, China, and Japan, which remain popular among Vietnamese tourists for their affordability and diverse itineraries.
As the summer travel season peaks, airlines and travel agencies navigate the balance between cost savings and customer convenience, with many travelers opting for flights that better align with traditional daytime travel schedules.
