Alaska Airlines Expands Partnership with British Airways for Easier London Bookings

by Alice

Alaska Airlines passengers can now book British Airways flights to London directly through Alaska’s website, thanks to an expanded partnership between the two carriers.

Starting June 18, travelers can purchase tickets on British Airways flights from Alaska’s gateway airports, which include Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, and New York. This collaboration is part of the airlines’ involvement in the Oneworld alliance.

Andrew Harrison, Alaska Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. “We’re excited to add our longstanding partner, British Airways, to our growing portfolio of alaskaair.com book direct airlines,” he said. “London is one of the most requested global gateways by our guests and no one serves it better than British Airways and the Oneworld alliance.”

San Francisco: 2 flights daily

Los Angeles: 3 flights daily

San Diego: 2 flights daily

Chicago: 3 flights daily

New York (JFK): 8 flights daily

Later this year, the partnership will expand further to allow passengers to book connecting Alaska Airlines flights and British Airways flights to other destinations beyond London.

Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, highlighted the benefits of the partnership, stating it will offer “seamless access” to London and connect more travelers between the Pacific Northwest and the UK capital.

Mileage Plan members booking British Airways flights through Alaska Airlines will earn 100% of the miles flown and receive equal status matching within the Oneworld alliance.

This development follows the Department of Transportation’s approval of a codeshare partnership between British Airways and JetBlue, which will cover various routes, including 75 domestic flights from New York and Boston operated by JetBlue and 17 intra-European flights from London operated by British Airways.
