Egyptair and Etihad Airways have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance their commercial and operational partnership, aiming to offer travelers more choices, improved services, and greater value.
Subject to regulatory approval, this agreement builds on the existing codeshare arrangement, allowing passengers to book connecting flights on both airlines with a single ticket and check baggage through to their final destination. The expanded codeshare will provide Egyptair travelers access to more destinations on Etihad’s network, including Asia and Australia, while Etihad customers will gain additional destinations on Egyptair’s network.
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, stated, “This agreement deepens our codeshare with Egyptair, facilitating seamless travel for guests of both airlines across our networks. It also paves the way for cooperation on our frequent flyer programs and joint marketing campaigns to stimulate and reward our customers.”
Yehia Zakaria, Chairperson and CEO of Egyptair, added, “This MoU strengthens our strategic partnership with Etihad Airways and underscores our commitment to providing our valued customers with a seamless travel experience and access to a wider network.”
Key benefits of the partnership include:
Increased connectivity between Egypt and the UAE, as well as beyond Cairo into Africa and beyond Abu Dhabi into Asia.
Single-ticket booking for travel on both airlines, with seamless baggage check-through to the final destination.
Access to a wider range of destinations through the extended codeshare agreement.
Potential collaboration on frequent flyer programs and joint marketing campaigns.
