Georgians can now travel to China without a visa for up to 30 days, following a new agreement that took effect on May 28, according to the Georgian Foreign Ministry.
This development comes after Georgia lifted visa requirements for Chinese nationals visiting the South Caucasus nation in September. The reciprocal move aligns with the two countries’ decision to elevate their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
Tbilisi’s initiative to strengthen ties with Beijing occurs amid escalating tensions between China and both the United States and the European Union. These tensions are partly due to perceptions of the Georgian government’s neutral stance towards Russia during its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
