The National Immigration Administration announced the issuance of individual travel endorsements for Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions (SARs) from eight additional cities, effective May 27, as per a recent release on Saturday.
Approved by China’s State Council, the inclusion of these eight cities expands the list of authorized destinations, encompassing Taiyuan (Shanxi province), Hohhot (Inner Mongolia autonomous region), Harbin (Heilongjiang province), Lhasa (Xizang autonomous region), Lanzhou (Gansu province), Xining (Qinghai province), Yinchuan (Ningxia Hui autonomous region), and Urumqi (Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region).
Under this policy, residents from these newly endorsed cities holding individual travel endorsements can visit and stay in Hong Kong or Macao SARs for a duration of up to seven days.
With the addition of these eight cities, the Chinese mainland now boasts nearly 60 cities issuing individual travel endorsements for trips to the Hong Kong and Macao SARs.
Previously, in February, Xi’an (Shaanxi province) and Qingdao (Shandong province) were granted permission to issue individual travel endorsements for trips to these two special administrative regions, effective from March 6.
