Newport Harbor Island Resort, situated on the picturesque Goat Island, a quintessential New England coastal destination, is delighted to declare its official reopening today, following an extensive transformation valued at $50 million. The resort, previously known as Gurney’s Newport Resort and Marina, is owned by Pebblebrook Hotel Trust and operated by Davidson Resorts, heralding a fresh chapter in its legacy.
Partnering with Dawson Design Associates (DDA), the resort has undergone a complete reimagination, paying homage to its coastal New England heritage while infusing spaces with simplicity, warmth, and contemporary comfort. From expansive guestrooms and suites to a modern Spa and reimagined culinary offerings, including dining venues and meeting spaces, the resort’s overhaul presents a seamless fusion of coastal charm and refined luxury. Notably, the property boasts Newport’s largest event space, totaling nearly 30,000 square feet, catering to various occasions, from weddings to conferences.
Emphasizing guest-centric service, the resort introduces an array of activities curated by the new Recreation Manager, Rebecca Violette. These offerings range from group clambakes and wellness classes to an extensive Kids’ Club and a seasonal water taxi service from the resort marina to downtown Newport, commencing on Memorial Day Weekend.
Enhancing the dining experience, Torpedo Bar & Lounge showcases local delicacies such as Blue Crab Toast and Tarragon Lobster, while The Bakery offers freshly baked goods and coffee. Additionally, the upcoming opening of 1639 restaurant and Pineapple Club, both launching on Memorial Day Weekend, promises an array of culinary delights, from fresh seafood to classic grill fare.
Chris Tatum, Managing Director of Newport Harbor Island Resort, expressed pride in the resort’s rejuvenation, inviting families, couples, and friends to embark on memorable experiences year-round.
Nestled steps away from downtown Newport and overlooking the tranquil waters, Newport Harbor Island Resort offers guests unparalleled access to the charm and beauty of this idyllic New England town.
