The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has extended its partnership with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) for another three years, from 2024 to 2027. This renewed collaboration aims to continue the release of the Asia Pacific Visitor Forecasts reports.
PATA CEO Noor Ahmad Hamid emphasized the importance of these reports in navigating the evolving global travel and tourism landscape. “As the industry grows, the Asia Pacific Visitor Forecasts will remain a vital resource. They help stakeholders address challenges and seize emerging opportunities amid economic and geopolitical uncertainties,” said Hamid. “By renewing our partnership with PolyU, a leading institution in interdisciplinary research, we ensure that PATA members will receive the latest insights into regional tourism trends.”
Prof. Haiyan Song, Associate Dean and Chair Professor at PolyU, expressed the university’s pride in its long-standing collaboration with PATA. “It has been a privilege to work with PATA over the years. The forecasts have had a significant impact on destination management and business strategies for PATA members,” he stated.
The extended partnership will focus on the “Further Development of Tourism Demand Forecasting for the Asia Pacific Region (Phase 4)” project. This initiative combines advanced statistical techniques, scenario modeling, artificial intelligence algorithms, and input from stakeholders to produce the Asia Pacific Visitor Forecasts. The reports offer valuable insights into trends such as inbound tourism, tourism revenues, and outbound travel patterns.
These forecasts are essential tools for tourism professionals, businesses, and destinations, aiding in policy development, decision-making, and operational planning. By providing a clearer understanding of demand trends, they help stakeholders respond effectively to both current and future global challenges.
