Royal Caribbean International has announced a major expansion of its Hong Kong operations for 2025, increasing the number of sailings from the city. As the longest-serving homeport operator in Hong Kong, Royal Caribbean plans to double its cruises, featuring 10 homeport sailings aboard Spectrum of the Seas and additional departures on Ovation of the Seas.
The expanded itineraries aboard Spectrum of the Seas will offer a wide range of options, from short 2-night weekend getaways to longer voyages of up to 11 nights. Destinations will include Japan, Taiwan, and Vietnam. A key highlight is an 11-night Japan-focused journey, set to depart on November 23, 2025, with stops in Fukuoka, Sakaiminato, Kanazawa, Maizuru, and Sasebo. In addition, Ovation of the Seas will kick off its season with a 5-night cruise over Easter Monday, catering to families and groups.
The Spectrum of the Seas is set to arrive in Hong Kong on December 6, 2024, bringing over 4,800 international visitors, with expectations of an additional 20,000 passengers over the following two months.
Benjamin Bouldin, President of Royal Caribbean International for China, emphasized Hong Kong’s appeal as a cruise hub, noting its unique blend of East and West cultures. He also pointed to the city’s strategic location and its visa-free access to citizens of 170 countries, further solidifying Hong Kong as a key player in the Asian cruise market.
This move comes as part of Hong Kong’s ongoing tourism recovery, with nearly 37 million visitors recorded in the first 10 months of 2024 and a projected 30% increase in tourism in 2025.
