In a bid to strengthen its tourism sector, Fundación Turisme Palma 365 has unveiled plans to prioritize the North American market in 2025, with a dedicated budget of 1.5 million euros. This strategic move aims to attract high-spending, culture-seeking tourists from the U.S. and Canada to the Balearic Islands.
One of the key initiatives to boost connections is the expansion of the current United Airlines service to New York. Starting in May 2025, the airline will increase its frequency from three to four weekly flights. Palma City Council’s long-term objective is to establish daily flights to North America year-round, further enhancing accessibility to the island.
To cement its presence in the region, Fundación Turisme Palma 365 is opening a communications agency in New York, similar to its existing operations in Berlin, London, and Madrid, which target German, British, and domestic markets. Additionally, a promotional mission to New York is scheduled for late February 2025. The trip will include a delegation of local business leaders and trustees, engaging with tour operators and members of the travel press.
In addition to North America, the foundation is also working on boosting connections with North Africa, particularly with Tangiers, following a twinning agreement signed with the Moroccan city in September 2024.
This comprehensive international strategy underscores Palma’s commitment to expanding its tourism footprint and fostering stronger global ties, enhancing the city’s appeal to a wider range of visitors.
