Hong Kong Airlines will resume direct flights to Vancouver, Canada, beginning 18 January 2025, offering twice-weekly services. This marks the return of Vancouver as the airline’s first North American destination since the service was paused. The new flights aim to provide passengers with enhanced travel options between Hong Kong and Vancouver, as well as convenient connections via Hong Kong to other global destinations.
Vancouver, which became Hong Kong Airlines’ first North American route in June 2017, has consistently been a popular destination for travelers. The resumption of this service highlights the airline’s commitment to expanding its global network and its ongoing transformation from a regional carrier to an international one. The twice-weekly flights will cater to both leisure and business travelers, fostering stronger ties between Asia, North America, and beyond.
Hong Kong Airlines Chairman Mr. Yan Bo expressed excitement about the route’s return, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Vancouver back as our first North American destination. This service will not only attract more travelers to experience Vancouver’s beauty but will also strengthen business and family connections across the regions.”
The airline has been on a path of recovery following a successful restructuring in 2023. With its route network now covering over 30 destinations, Hong Kong Airlines has fully restored its pre-pandemic flight frequency, achieving an average passenger load factor of around 85%. The airline is on track to carry more than 5 million passengers in 2024, with further fleet expansion planned to meet growing demand.
