With insights from over 1,000 respondents across 11 Asian markets, the survey reveals key shifts in traveller behavior, highlighting the growing importance of family trips, the rise of digital tools, and evolving travel preferences.

Family Travel Takes the Lead

Family travel is emerging as a significant priority, with 34% of respondents planning to spend quality time with loved ones in 2025. Indonesia is at the forefront of this trend, with 58% of travellers seeking multi-generational experiences. India follows closely, with 30% prioritising family trips. This growing trend indicates a shift towards more connected travel experiences, as family bonds take precedence over solo or couple getaways.

For 75% of respondents, relaxation remains the driving force behind travel plans. Indian travellers, in particular, emphasize unwinding from everyday stresses, with 80% citing it as their primary motivation. Visiting friends and family (38%) and cultural exploration (35%) round out secondary travel priorities, indicating a well-rounded approach to vacationing that blends leisure, connection, and cultural enrichment.

Digital innovation continues to reshape the travel experience, with 80% of respondents planning to use apps for booking and organizing their trips. Indian travellers are leading the digital charge, with 90% relying on technology for trip planning. Virtual reality (VR) tours are also gaining popularity, with 12% of travellers expressing interest in virtually exploring destinations before finalizing plans. These technological advancements are making travel more seamless and accessible than ever before.

As financial considerations remain top of mind, 65% of respondents plan to spend under $250 (approximately Rs 21,073) per night on accommodation. Indians, in particular, prioritize affordability, with 70% citing budget as a key factor in their travel decisions. Despite these cost-conscious choices, 87% of respondents intend to travel as frequently or more in 2025, with 52% planning international trips.

Remote Work and Travel Converge

The growing trend of remote work is influencing travel patterns. Beyond traditional business trips (28%), one in 25 respondents plans to blend work with travel in 2025, embracing the digital nomad lifestyle. This trend is particularly prominent in the Philippines, where one in fourteen travellers is considering a remote work-and-travel lifestyle. As flexible work arrangements become more common, this hybrid travel model is set to grow.

Exploration and Discovery

Travellers are more eager than ever to explore new destinations, with 84% expressing interest in discovering uncharted locations. Personal interests (71%), budget-friendly deals (56%), and recommendations from friends and family (33%) are key sources of inspiration, with social media influencing 20% of respondents. In India, loyalty programs and partnerships with financial institutions make travel more accessible, further enhancing the appeal of new adventures.

Theme Parks Continue to Draw Crowds

Theme parks remain a major draw for travellers, with one in eight respondents planning trips centered around these attractions. Popular parks like Disneyland in Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, Universal Studios in Singapore and Osaka, and Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi continue to captivate global travellers. For Indian visitors, destinations in the UAE and Singapore are particularly enticing for family-friendly adventures.

Agoda’s survey also sheds light on how the travel industry is adapting to meet these evolving preferences. By offering tailored deals, digital services, and expanding access to a wide range of properties and activities, platforms like Agoda are redefining the travel experience. With a vast portfolio of over 4.5 million properties, 130,000 flight routes, and 300,000 activities, Agoda is helping travellers navigate the new era of travel.
