Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is hosting the Superterminal Expo 2024, a significant event dedicated to advancements in aviation, technology, and autonomous transport innovation, further enhancing Hong Kong’s global prominence in the industry.
Kicking off today, the Superterminal Expo Asia 2024 is set to run for three days at HKIA, attracting over 2,000 attendees and nearly 100 exhibitors from around the world. This premier event showcases the latest developments in aviation and transport technology.
As one of the few airports globally excelling in both passenger and cargo services, HKIA boasts extensive multimodal connectivity and cutting-edge airport operations and customer service technology.
The opening ceremony featured notable attendees, including Mr. Michael Wong, Acting Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Lam Sai-hung, Secretary for Transport and Logistics; Vivian Cheung, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Airport Authority Hong Kong; Mr. Liu Chung-lai, Director-General of Civil Aviation; and Michael Duck, Executive Vice President of Business Development at Informa Markets Asia, the expo’s organizer.
With this system, HKIA will have the capacity to handle 300 million passengers and 1.2 million tonnes of cargo annually, strengthening Hong Kong as an aviation hub and enhancing our service capabilities regionally and beyond.” He noted that this expansion presents numerous business and profit opportunities for key stakeholders in the global aviation and logistics sectors.
Vivian Cheung expressed pride in hosting the event, stating, “Innovation is the cornerstone of HKIA’s operations. With the three-runway system set to launch soon and other facilities at Airport City opening in phases, we aim to make Airport City a landmark in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, attracting tourists from around the globe.”
Michael Duck emphasized the expo’s potential impact, saying, “The ideas generated here can shape future terminal operations and design, influence aviation policy, and enhance the experience for passengers and cargo handlers worldwide.
