MTR Offers Free Rides for People with Disabilities on November 10

In celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the MTR Corporation is offering complimentary travel across its network for passengers with disabilities and their designated caregivers on November 10, 2024.

The initiative, dubbed “Free Ride Day,” aims to enhance accessibility and encourage greater participation in the event. As Hong Kong’s largest public transportation provider, MTR remains committed to promoting inclusivity and supporting individuals with disabilities.

Free Travel Details

Passengers who hold a valid Registration Card for People with Disabilities, a Personalised Octopus card, or a JoyYou Card with the “Persons with Disabilities Status” will be eligible for free travel on MTR, Light Rail, and MTR Bus services on November 10.

MTR, Light Rail, and MTR Bus Services: Holders of a Personalised Octopus card or JoyYou Card with the “Persons with Disabilities Status” can travel without fare charges.

Registration Card Holders: Passengers with a Registration Card may obtain free Single Journey Tickets at any MTR or Airport Express station’s Customer Service Centre or Information Counter by declaring their destination.

For Non-marked JoyYou Cards: If a JoyYou Card does not display the “Persons with Disabilities Status,” passengers must show their Registration Card at designated service points to receive free Single Journey Tickets.

Caregiver Eligibility: Eligible passengers can obtain free Single Journey Tickets for their caregivers at any Customer Service Centre or Information Counter.

Light Rail and MTR Bus: Caregivers traveling with eligible passengers can board without purchasing a ticket. They only need to present the appropriate documentation (Registration Card, Personalised Octopus card, or JoyYou Card) when requested by staff.
