Astro-Tourism: A Stellar Attraction

Astro-tourism is poised to take center stage in 2025, with a significant 48% of APAC respondents expressing a desire to chase the Northern Lights. This phenomenon is particularly appealing to travellers from Australia (58%) and Singapore (57%). Additionally, night sky photography is gaining traction, especially in India, where 56% of respondents are eager to capture celestial moments.

Beyond stargazing, 37% of APAC travellers are excited about the prospect of sleeping under the stars, adding an adventurous element to their holidays. Observatories are also becoming popular destinations, with 35% of respondents keen to visit one during their travels.

Nature and Garden Tourism: Embracing the Outdoors

Nature remains a central theme in travel choices, as travellers seek to reconnect with the environment. Garden tourism is a major draw, with 74% of APAC travellers interested in visiting gardens during their trips. Indian respondents lead this trend, with 90% expressing enthusiasm for garden experiences. In Singapore, 74% of travellers share this interest, while 67% in Japan also favor garden visits.

Natural landscapes heavily influence destination choices, with 55% of APAC travellers prioritizing scenic views. The cherry blossom season is highly anticipated, as 57% of respondents look forward to experiencing it in 2025, especially in Singapore (65%) and Australia (59%).

Wellness Tourism: Health as a Holiday Focus

The rise of wellness tourism reflects a growing trend among travellers seeking to recharge physically and mentally. More than one-third of APAC respondents (36%) emphasize health and wellness during their holidays. India stands out, with 57% of its travellers prioritizing wellness, followed by Singapore at 42%. Many travellers aim not only to relax but also to enhance their resilience and sense of purpose, with 75% stating that holidays help them manage stress upon returning home.

There is also a notable interest in visiting Blue Zones—regions known for their longevity and health benefits. A striking 64% of APAC travellers find inspiration in these destinations for making lifestyle changes, with Indian respondents leading at 89%.

Sports and Gaming Tourism: The New Travel Frontier

Sports tourism is on the rise, as more travellers seek to combine their passion for sports with travel. While domestic sporting events remain popular in Japan and South Korea, India is emerging as a leader in international sports tourism, with 31% of respondents planning to attend events abroad in 2025. This trend is particularly driven by younger travellers, with 33% of those aged 18-24 and 35% of those aged 25-34 expressing interest in international sporting events.

Gaming tourism is also gaining momentum. Half of all APAC respondents feel inspired to visit locations featured in video games. India is a key market in this arena, with 88% of respondents showing interest, especially among younger travellers aged 18-24. This demographic is also more likely to bring gaming consoles on holiday, with 67% of Indian respondents reporting they do so.
