Canadian carrier Porter Airlines has announced a significant increase in its flights to Florida, aiming to cater to the seasonal demand from travelers seeking warmer climates.
Starting this winter, Porter will operate up to 126 flights per week across 14 different routes connecting Canada and the Sunshine State. These routes include major city pairs such as Toronto to West Palm Beach, Montréal to Fort Lauderdale, and Ottawa to Orlando.
Kevin Jackson, President of Porter Airlines, highlighted the airline’s commitment to enhancing travel options, stating, “We experienced a strong response to our Florida service last winter. Now, we’re providing our passengers with substantially more flight options to meet their Florida travel plans this winter, including departures from four major Canadian airports.”
Porter’s winter schedule will commence with flights from Toronto to Fort Myers on October 25, followed by services from Ottawa to Fort Lauderdale and Toronto to Tampa on October 27. This expansion complements Porter’s existing year-round flights to Orlando from Toronto and Ottawa.
New seasonal service between Toronto and Palm Beach will launch on November 14, with daily flights scheduled to accommodate increased demand.
Dana Young, President and CEO of Visit Florida, noted the significance of Porter’s expansion, stating, “This signifies the growing demand for travel to our incredible destinations, allowing more Canadians to discover the unique charm, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality that Florida has to offer.”
Porter Airlines will deploy its 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft on these routes, known for their spacious 2-2 seat configuration. Passengers can enjoy complimentary snacks, beer, and wine onboard, along with free Wi-Fi throughout the flight.
This expansion follows Porter’s recent introduction of seasonal flights from Montréal to Los Angeles and San Francisco, reflecting the airline’s strategic efforts to enhance connectivity and meet traveler demand across North America. Additionally, Porter has collaborated with Alaska Airlines to streamline travel between Toronto and California.
